Hoop More

Privacy Policy

In effect since August 16, 2026 · version 2026-08-16.1

The short version

Hoop More exists to get people to the gym together. We collect what that takes and nothing else — no ad tracking, no selling your data, no building a profile of you to monetise. Your phone number is never shown to other players.

Hoop More is a product of Made Swell, LLC, which is the company responsible for your data. This policy covers the Hoop More app and website.

What we collect

  • Your phone number. It's how you sign in and how your runs stay attached to you when someone invites you by text. We verify it with a one-time SMS code.
  • Your name, and optionally a nickname, profile photo, position, height, and home court. Everything past your name is optional and you can clear it at any time. Profile photos are screened automatically for explicit content when you upload them, before they appear to anyone.
  • Your run activity — the runs you organise or join, your responses, guests you bring, and comments or reactions you post to a run's feed.
  • Notification settings and a push token for the device you install on, so we can send the alerts you asked for.
  • Reports about conduct. Organisers can flag a player as late, a no-show, or a trash talker on a run that already happened.
  • Your messaging choices. We record what you agreed to, when, and the exact wording you were shown — including the things you declined. That record is kept so we can prove what you were asked.

What we don't collect

  • Your location is never sent to us. The app asks for it only to sort courts by distance on your device. It stays on your device.
  • Your contacts. We never read your address book.
  • Payment details. Hoop More doesn't take payments.
  • No advertising identifiers, and no third-party ad or analytics SDKs.

Who can see what

  • Your phone number: nobody but you. It's stored apart from your profile and is never readable by other players.
  • Your name and photo appear on the rosters and run pages you're part of, so people know who's coming.
  • Your full profile — position, height, home court, runs played — is visible only to players you've actually been on a run with. It is not a public profile and not a searchable directory.
  • Your favorites are private. Starring someone is one-directional and silent: they are never told, and they can never see who starred them.
  • Conduct reports are private and are shown only as a count to organisers deciding whether to approve someone. The player reported is not told who reported them.
  • Public run links. A run's share page shows the time, place and headcount. Private runs never show names or rosters to anyone who isn't signed in and part of the run.

Texts and email

We treat three things as separate permissions, and you can change any of them without affecting the others:

  • Texts about runs you're part of — roll calls, reminders, changes, cancellations. These are how the product works, so we ask for them when you join.
  • Occasional texts about new runs and Hoop More updates. Off unless you turn them on.
  • Email. Off unless you turn it on. Used for account recovery and occasional updates.

You can reply STOP to any text to stop them, or change any of it in Profile. Replying STOP stops run texts too, so you may want to turn on push notifications instead.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a small number of vendors purely to run the service:

  • Supabase — database, sign-in, and photo storage.
  • Twilio — sending SMS verification codes and run texts.
  • Expo — delivering push notifications.
  • Vercel — hosting this website.
  • Google Cloud — automated screening of profile photos when they're uploaded.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it's necessary to protect someone's safety.

Your choices

  • Edit or clear your details any time from Profile → Edit, including removing your photo or nickname.
  • Turn notifications off individually in Profile → Notification settings, or entirely in your device settings.
  • Change what we're allowed to send you in Profile, at any time.
  • Delete your account from Profile → Privacy & messages, or by emailing us. We'll remove your profile and personal details. Runs you organised stay on the calendar for the people who joined them, with your name removed. We keep a record of your messaging permissions with your identity replaced by a one-way code, because we have to be able to show what was agreed even after an account is gone.

Keeping it safe

Access is enforced at the database level, not just in the app — every rule above about who can see what is a policy on the data itself. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, but we don't hold data we don't need.

Children

Hoop More is not intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and we'll tell you in the app if the change is significant.
